Call to Greatness

Call to Greatness - Life without Limitations

As an elementary teacher, I feel my current service is to inspire and ignite the passion for learning and exploration of the endless, exciting possibilities of life. Yesterday I had an unusually profound day with my students; drawing their attention to the fact that history is being made as we speak, in this very moment choices and potentials for our lives are unfolding and being written in time. As they stared at me captivated and perhaps even mind-blown at the idea that in a hundred or thousand years other people would be studying us just as we were studying those before …

How Do You Balance Self-Respect with Compassion? Don’t We Have to Give Selflessly out of Love?

Does Altruism exist - the ultimate selflessness is selfishness - love thyself

Q: How do you balance “self-respect” with compassion? Don’t we sometimes have to “give” selflessly out of love? A: Great questions, let’s explore them. First, know that to love ourselves and have self-respect does not necessary entail being stereotypically ‘selfish’ or otherwise non-compassionate. The point is to simply only extend compassion if it is genuine. If it genuinely brings us joy and is what we want in the moment, then being compassionate, kind, and considerate of others is completely in alignment with loving ourself, because after all it is in fact what we want. We should always only do what we …

Transcending the Themes of Consciousness: The Mind and ‘Co-Creation’ (Part 3/3)

Letting go Transcending the mind, ego, and the attachment to control

The following are excerpts taken from The Liberated Lotus: Awakening Eternal Happiness regarding the nature of the mind, transcending the sophisticated intellectual and spiritual ego, and letting go of attachment to ‘co-creation’. How are we to comprehend this idea that the mind is impersonal and not an independent identity reflecting true reality? By realizing that all of the mind’s projections, editorializing, judgments, and sense of being ‘real’ as an independent existing entity are the illusion. Absolutely everything the mind ‘thinks’ is not coming from any personal-self identity but rather from a limited perspective and degree of awareness and is impersonal. …

Transcending the Themes of Consciousness: Awakening to the Salvation of Unconditional Love (Part 3/3)

The peace and joy of salvation - returning to our natural state of unconditional love

Salvation is Unconditional Love Unconditional love is the level of salvation, which is the freedom of being completely forgiven and liberated from all negativity/ignorance/’sin’, and its energy field is truly Heaven within. There is nothing that can possibly affect us and all is seen with an equal eye. Everything is lovable and everything is seen as divinely perfect, there is no guilt ever possible again. There can be no more resistance, all is forgiven, all is accepted, all is finally understood as the projection of Self. (Recall, how we perceive the world is only a projection of our self-perception) The …

Transcending the Themes of Consciousness: Awakening to the Salvation of Unconditional Love (Part 2/3)

What is unconditional love, awakening inner peace

The Mind The path of the mind (Advaita) can be sophisticated and cunning and requires constant psychological analysis and inner work regarding the nature of the ego and radical self-inquiry. The ego mind is the most cunning of all con artists and is in fact the greatest con there ever was. Simply put, the mind wants us to think that it is who we really are. It wants us to think that its thoughts are ‘our’ thoughts and that we in fact a dualistic ego. In Reality this is simply not true. The mind is a tool just like the …

Life is Divine Synchronicity

All of life is synchronicity

[Inspired from a paper for my masters program] Everything is Connected If we consider synchronicity to be the intimate connection between our life experiences and the collective unconscious then we will inevitably realize that all of life is ultimately a continuous revelation of synchronicity. Carl Jung offered the world a stunning view into the collective unconscious by doing his best to make the symbolic nature of the unconscious visible to humanity. According to Jung, within the unconscious there are themes, archetypes, and symbols that present themselves to us to guide and align our lives according to that which we resonate …

Being Honest with Ourselves

Being Honest with Ourselves

With an understanding of projection let us now explore applications of this new found awareness. Since everything is purely subjective and within us this means that literally we are the only ones who decide how we feel in every moment. This means that all love, happiness, fulfillment, contentment, and satisfaction in life is purely up to us and only us. There is no thing or person who can actually make us happy, feel loved, or right. It is only our own choice. Out of inspiration provided from recent discussions with friends, the following may be useful guidance pertaining to remembering …

Understanding Projection – Others’ Opinions Are Not Personal

Reality is not objective - understanding projection

In light of the recent discussions regarding the themes of awareness and the ego and its attachments, let us further discuss the concept of projection. Once the ego has formulated its belief systems and established its sense of identification within its energetic theme of consciousness it then perceives all of life with such accepted intentions. This then becomes the source of all opinions, perceptions, values, interests, and ultimate subjective experience of life. However, all of which are relative and only true within the field of awareness from which they are arising in. Meaning, to one theme there are certain values …

The Evolution of Compassion

The Evolution of Compassion - Glorious sunset reflection everything is within us

Developing compassion has been on my mind lately and I’d like to take a few moments to share some thoughts that have occurred to me. I hope that they may assist in your own understanding and growth. Respecting the Relativity of Truth We start by understanding a working definition of compassion as something that is developed through a deep understanding of another being’s reality. True compassion can only come from a realization of their truth. In other words compassion can only come from surrender of our personal ego perspective. It is only once we let go of our own ego/belief …

A Perspective on Vulnerability and Judgment

I would like to share a few thoughts on vulnerability and judgment that occurred to me as a result of pondering the previous post.  It seems that we hold back from expressing our true selves because we are censoring ourselves one way or another. We are censoring ourselves because we are not unconditionally loving ourselves, one way or another we are withholding Love from ourselves. One of the most common methods of withholding Love and acceptance is through judgment. Judgment is a barrier to unconditional love since judgment is a dualistic system that can not abide within the realms of …

A Perspective on Unconditional Love

Let Go of Right and Wrong     Unconditional love is letting the other be ‘right’ by realizing there in fact is no right or wrong. We do not need to get so attached to a particular position of rightness for it is only our ego attachments that invest in such a vanity of pride such as, only my perspective is correct. Within non-attachment there is a complete reduction in ego inflation and staunch positionality (position of opinion that is taken and then defended out of investment) and it is replaced by only appreciation for all of life. The ‘other’ therefore, is not …

The Power of Surrender II

There was somethings that I feel were left out during the first discussion of surrender that I wanted to make sure and discuss. For starters, we often find ourselves fighting current situations in our life so furiously because one way or another we want it to be a different way. We become entrapped by the need for either something specific to happen or be, or we wish something didn’t happen or wasn’t the way it is. Generally these are the two basic types of resistance to the present moment and what is. Thus, we see that the ego/mind is always …

A Perspective on Anger, Frustration, and Resistance

Something has come to my awareness that I would like to share in hopes that it might perhaps inspire you. Upon pondering the concepts of anger and frustration a realization came to me that these emotions can only be experienced when we are in resistance with the current moment/what is. Furthermore, all energy of anger, aggression, or frustration is an attempt to control our reality through projection onto others making them the enemy and making us the victim, thus in control(even if it is in control of being a victim). This may seem conflicting since we are nevertheless a victim …

The Power of Surrender

I’d like to take moment to discuss the power of surrender in hopes that we may better understand this life changing concept. The concept seems to have a negative feeling behind it and so many of us tend to be resistant to it accordingly. We commonly associate surrender with weakness or defeat but this can only be so if we are using the ego’s framework for reality. By “surrendering” the ego sees it as failing or as losing something but in truth it is only in surrender that we grow for life naturally wants to grow it is …

God and the Illusion of Judgment

Today I’ve decided I would like to discuss further the concept of judgment in relationship not only to ourselves and others but the illusion of it coming from God. This illusion has taken me quite some time to transcend and cleanse from my consciousness and I admit that from time to time I still struggle with it. The unfortunate thing about this illusion is that it is so easy to see everywhere in our interactions with each other today. After pondering this for many weeks, months and perhaps years now, I have finally begun to understand how this …
