Life is Divine Synchronicity

All of life is synchronicity

[Inspired from a paper for my masters program]

Everything is Connected

If we consider synchronicity to be the intimate connection between our life experiences and the collective unconscious then we will inevitably realize that all of life is ultimately a continuous revelation of synchronicity. Carl Jung offered the world a stunning view into the collective unconscious by doing his best to make the symbolic nature of the unconscious visible to humanity. According to Jung, within the unconscious there are themes, archetypes, and symbols that present themselves to us to guide and align our lives according to that which we resonate with (e.g. ‘the hero’, ‘the trickster’, ‘the lover’, etc.). All of humanity then can be thought of as playing out various roles they’ve chosen in accordance within the collective unconscious, which is universal and all beings are unified with it, hence collective.

When we truly realize the profundity of this revelation it shifts our subjective experience into an entirely new realm that tends to be extremely empowering. Life is essentially giving us continuous experiences that we require in order to grow, adapt, and learn according to what we subconsciously or ‘unconsciously’ desire. Synchronicity then can be seen as the process of the entire universe aligning to bring us experiences in fascinatingly intricate ways in order to align with and heal the unconscious theme being played out for us. Another term for the unconscious and its contextual themes/symbolism is referred to in the spiritual realms as ‘karma’ and is equally demonstrating the point of a universal connectivity that governs all life.

Whether we call it karma or the unconscious is really immaterial, the most important thing to realize is its all-pervasive reality. In my experience it took many years and constant external searching before I ever awoke to these notions of karma, the unconscious, or synchronicity. And yet, once they were discovered it became obvious that my entire life had been a perfect reflection of these concepts, including even discovering them in the first place. One could note that even this writing and anyone aligned with reading it is a profound synchronicity in and of itself. Think about it… how did you get here? What is your heart seeking that aligned you to read this?

Now there certainly are more obvious serendipitous moments in life than others and for that I have found every human relationship and interaction to be the most transformational and facilitative of conscious awareness of synchronicity. Human relationships and alignments are incredibly obvious in their unexplainable perfection of reflected interest or some type of significant energetic theme being shared between two or more people. This however also can be reflected in the seemingly ‘negative’ way as well such as wanting to master unconditional love and then realizing that it also brings up all opposition to it. For example, we are trying to be loving and forgiving of everyone and then we are aligned with a situation where our love is challenged in the most significant way in order to ‘test’ our resolve. In this particular example we can note that embracing unconditional love means facing all challenges to proving it wrong with equal poise and certitude, even if it means forgiving murder, rape, torture, abuse, etc. (e.g. Christ on the cross).

Miracle of Life

Nevertheless, every time I was seeking something in particular throughout my journey it was eventually provided in some seemingly magical way whether it was an intimate relationship, friendships, spiritual guidance, certain information, finding the right graduate program, or even the simplest of things such as particular foods, music, or movies. Due to becoming aware of such things and fully accepting the feeling of dream like lucidity, I have found it impossible to indulge in the belief of coincidences, accidents, or mistakes, all of which now seem to have been illusions the entire time. Therefore it would seem then that everything is always perfect and exactly as it should be without exception. This is what I have found to be absolute truth.

Through synchronicity, it came to my attention that absolutely every single moment of life is an infinitely complex alignment of energy, that is to say an alignment of the collective unconscious/karma. When I truly accepted this, life had subjectively become radically transformed and would never be experienced the same again. The richness and perfection of life became intoxicating and so incredibly obvious. There was simply nothing that couldn’t be appreciated and loved as synchronicity was realized to not be something ‘happening’ but rather is everything that appears to be happening.

When we accept the fact that every infinitely tiny detail of our life experience is exactly how it’s supposed to be, completely perfect, and according to what we want, whether conscious or unconscious, we reach the ultimate state of empowerment by becoming fully aware of the miracle of the present moment. Within this acceptance is the power of awakening to the beauty of life and our subjective experience is forever altered. The present moment is realized to be an eternal, continuous unfolding of synchronistic wonder that has innate to it a sense of lovingness that is unmistakable, immutable, and unconditional. Thus, within such a radical realization it became clear, life is synchronicity.

  1. A beautifully written understanding of the purpose of life. Bravo!

  2. Reblogged this on The Other Side of Ugly and commented:
It’s worth taking the time to read in entirety.

  3. This is wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing this insightful post. Indeed everything IS as it is meant to be… not a cliche. Simply a fact of synchronicity. Thanks again. Namaste ~Gina

  4. I have had some deep visions of how everything ‘fits’ together – one of my favorite sages – Nisargadatta – speaks of “total functioning” – and my view from a vision a year ago or so was of a vast clockwork where all celestial bodies on the macro scale and down to our finest energy movements as thoughts, etc. are all linked like “cog-wheels”. Thanks for your article!
Here is my post from today:

  5. I will read through again, but I stopped reading when you said the universe aligns for us. No, we must try to align with the universe. We don’t naturally align to it. The human being…unique to all animate creatures…is astray from what the universe preaches.

    • The human being is unique but not separate from the universe. Also the human being is not astray but is rather intimately one with the universe. The universe and humanity are not separate, we ‘are’ the universe and therefore are always aligned with it. Thus the universe aligns with/to us because it ‘is’ us… there is no separation. Humanity came ‘out of’ the universe not ‘into’ it… Think about it….

So then, that is to say humanity is equally a perfectly divine aspect of the universe which it is a part of and innately one with just as a cell in our body is equally representing our entire body or a drop of water in the ocean is equally the entire ocean. All separations and dualities are an illusion and realizing the synchronicity and infinite perfection of life makes this all very obvious through awakening to the nonduality of Reality. All is the Self interacting intimately through infinite complexity and perfection as an expression of Divine Creation. All is Self, All is Love, All is Perfect.

  6. This is very good. I really like this.

Yes, everything is important. Everything counts. My kids somtimes get after me because I all the time use the word, “crucial.” They mock me gently with my own words, “Everything is crucial ,Dad, get over it.”

I think that we are in an age in which we finally realize that there are no externalities. Eveything is absoluly connected.

Thanks. I’ve included a quote from Jung:

The Great events of world history are, at bottom, profoundly unimportant. In the last analysis, the essential thing is the life of the individual.
This alone makes history, here alone do the great transformations first take place, and the whole future, the whole history of the world, ultimately spring as a gigantic summation from these hidden sources in individuals.
In our most private and most subjective lives we are not only the passive witnesses of our age, and it’s sufferers, but also its makers. We make our own epoch.

  7. Hi Matt. Yes, I agree, we were formed from the Universe…as all animate creates are. But, I will put forth this thought. Man, due to his relatively large brain and opposable thumb…and his/her ability to walk upright…has led to a unique situation relative to the reset of animate creatures. Mankind has essentially built his own world with its own rules…attempting in fact…to separate himself from Nature. An example. Where in the universe or amongst all other animate creatures does a gold piece of metal mean something of significance? How is it, that one human being can be “worth” $80 billion dollars while another human being may be worth a negative amount? This is a human creation that doesn’t follow with nature or the universe. The currency in nature is energy…there is a sense of equilibrium in how that energy is used, consumed, created and also destroyed.

    • Indeed all you have said is true. The human ego is astounding and does in fact indulge in all sorts of various belief systems and symbols based in duality and separation that therefore result in incredibly strange, peculiar projections/creations such as a monetary system. All creations of humanity are essentially projections of themes of awareness/karma/the unconscious. I mention this in previous posts regarding the evolution of consciousness and how the primitive ego believes in separation and suffering while the more awakened/aware consciousness has realized the truth of connectivity, synchronicity, and the essence of love. These levels or themes of awareness then dictate the human’s responses to life.
Finally, you make an astute observation, all energy is neither created nor destroyed, equilibrium is always maintained, this is Truth.

  8. Jung was transfixed by the idea that life was not a series of random events but rather an expression of a deeper order, which he and Pauli referred to as Unus mundus . This deeper order led to the insights that a person was both embedded in an orderly framework and was the focus of that orderly framework and that the realisation of this was more than just an intellectual exercise, but also having elements of a spiritual awakening. From the religious perspective, synchronicity shares similar characteristics of an “intervention of grace”. Jung also believed that in a person’s life, synchronicity served a role similar to that of dreams, with the purpose of shifting a person’s egocentric conscious thinking to greater wholeness.

  9. Nicely presented, since within the context of this information is the intimacy of cause and effect.

    • Thank you for your kind words. I would like to note that synchronicity is more so concordance/spontaneous, autonomous ‘unfoldment’ rather than causality. Causality is limited and based in duality of a ‘this’ and a ‘that’ which are illusions of perception. For the sake of reflecting the truth of nonduality it is important to note that nothing is ‘causing’ anything in Reality. Synchronicity is more so the interactive dance of everything being and expressing what it is. That is to say love behaves in a ‘loving’ way, while an absence of love behaves in an ‘love absent’ way, ‘both’ of which are simply interacting with the world according to their innate essence that they are created to be. Again, they are not separate just different. Synchronicity then is referring to the dance of the universe playing itself out, or in Hindu terms, the dance of Shiva. All of life is a continuous expression of universal karma/the unconscious, or in other words, the Divine/Self playing hide and seek with itself. 🙂

  10. I often ponder this subject, thank you for sharing your insight so wonderfully. It makes perfect sense.
